Background

 

  • BS Pharmacy, University of Washington
    • Practiced pharmacy full- or part-time in Washington since 1969, (and practiced part-time in Iowa from 1994 to 1999).
    • Primary practice experience is in community pharmacy, including long-term care
    • Current part-time practice as an allergy consultant pharmacist in Spokane
    • I have managed a community pharmacy and have consulted in the establishment of new pharmacies and in the sale of existing pharmacies
    • I respond to requests from practitioners throughout the state on at least a weekly basis concerning regulatory and legal questions facing them in daily practice
  • MBA with concentrations in Marketing Research and Information Systems from the University of Puget Sound. My master’s thesis investigated marketing variables that influence prescription volume in clinic pharmacies.
  • PhD is in leadership and policy studies, with particular concentrations in program evaluation, corporate governance, and the wide range of legal topics facing academic administrators at the university or college level. My dissertation focused on professional ethics.
    • Experienced in developing business plans for new businesses and services, and in strategic planning at the institutional level – serving as chair of a system-wide strategic planning effort for Washington State University
    • Participated in and/or overseen major curricular revisions at three institutions that were moving from the BS Pharm to the PharmD degree
    • Participated in or led reaccreditation self-studies at four institutions.

  • Loaned-executive (interim dean) for a school of pharmacy
  • Program assistance in preparing for accreditation or reaccreditation
  • Experienced in regional accreditation standards of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and of the WASC Senior College and University Commission
  • Site team member for the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
  • Consulting on assessment and review of institutional self-studies
  • Consulting on assessment, risk management, and faculty employment.
